Pre-Arranged Late Payment

Hi,
I have two credit cards (Barclaycard and Tesco) which I have always kept up to date with. Recently I started a new job which took me from monthly to weekly pay and in order to better budget I asked them if I could delay the payments by 4 days which they agreed to. What both companies also said, is that because the DD is taken on the last possible payment date (they do this deliberately as they had to move my bill date to move the DD) I will be charged and arrears will be posted to my credit file.

I am not worried about the fees as they have both agreed to reverse them but they say they cannot reverse the credit file submissions. As I gave them a couple of weeks notice and they have agreed to the delay in payment does this not mean that it is not late? Advice is needed on how to stop inaccurate information being posted to my credit file as it will have an obvious effect.

Thanks in advance

They agreed to an "Arrangement to Pay" (AP) so this is how it should be marked.
  • I thought an AP was an agreement to take a lower payment for a while. All I am doing is deferring for 4 days and looking at AP's elsewhere on these forums its like having a CCJ. The normal agreed about will be paid I have just asked their agreement in advance to postpone it and for good reason. surely this is not due cause to ruin a fairly good credit score?
  • How has it been reported? I would imagine it would be one payment late.

If they changed the statement date, then that should be the only negative entry if you now pay by the new due date.

I would see what they post to your file.

I don't think an AP marker is appropriate here.
