Confused about renters/homeowners insurance?

My hubby and I are renting to own our current domicile. A few months back our "landlord" told us we had to pay the liability insurance. We felt we should not pay since we do not own the home yet and were told we were only responsible for the renters insurance.
The lease states: " #12 Tenant's shall be responsible for any and all casualty and/or liability insurance insuring the contents of the mobile home."
Any one able to give us any insights please? Thanks.

This is insurance for contents of a mobile home? Who owns the contents - you or the landlord?
The law around mobile homes is somewhat different (I believe) to normal ASTs for a property, but perhaps I am confusing this with the law around ownership/leases........
What exactly is your status? Tenant? Where does the 'rent to own' come in? How does this work?
What security of tenure do you have? If you simply decline to take out this insurance, can the LL evict? what happens then to whatever 'rent to own' arrangement is in place?
Sorry I've posted more Qs than answers, but the more you can answer, the more likely someone here can give meaningful advice.0 -

Ok Thanks Eton Rifle. I will try that.
I live in Tennessee. The rental agreement was only for 6 months on paper. But it is listed on the paperwork as rent to own and that after 108 consecutive payments we would own the mobile home. It is liability insurance which covers the mobile home should anything happen to it. We do not own so I guess we would be considered renting. We have lived here for two years now and are responsible for renters insurance would cover our stuff inside the home.0 -
