cheapest new ipad mini

hi guys looking at buying both my kids an ipad each for christmas and so far i think ive decided on the ipad mini 2 as it has the retina display and only a tad more than ipad 1 but no where near as much as ipad 3, think we only want a wifi model as well as they wont really be using them away from the house or anywhere not wifi.
ive seen them online at the apple shop and tesco for £200 brand new which is what we want, the wife says she'll get clubcard points from tesco's too which she always changes at christmas so thats a bonus, can anyone recommend any where possibly cheaper for a new one and should i hold out abit longer in case they drop in price before christmas as the ipad 3 has just came out?

Apple are selling them for £239 not £200 and their price wont drop any further whilst they stay in the main store or next year when the Mini 4 comes out if they decide to continue the 2 still.

There is the Refurb store if you dont mind that, there are not any wifi only ones in there at the moment but the ones with cellular data are looking to have about 15% discount applied which would take it to about £200-205

Once they do discontinue them they will stick the whatever is left in the Refurb store and time will tell how much they discount it by then and it will be a punt on if you get just discontinued stock or an actual refurbished unit.

Other retailers generally are free to set their own pricing however it is uncommon for them to go far away from Apple's own prices as generally they dont need to. Indeed Tesco currently are charging the same as Apple http://www.tesco.com/direct/technology-gaming/ipad-mini-with-retina-display/cat22550004.cat?sortBy=3&catId=4294807734&icid=tabletpcs_nav_slot3

  • sorry guys yes i got mixed it up, at tesco the ipad mini is 199 without retina, and its the ipad mini 2 that does have retina and is £239 at apple store thats the one im going to buy for £40 extra i feel its worth it, i cant find that for sale at tesco so at the moment it looks like im going to have to buy that from apple.
i wanted to buy it from tesco so we'd get the clubcard points which we can change for double or something that the wife does at christmas!
so if anyone can see it being cheaper that £239 for ipad 2 mini i'd appreciate the link!
    thanks glen

Sorry I doubt you'll see that this side of the new year and it won't be much less if you ever do.
  • cool so looks like im probably best getting them now then before they no doubt sell out before christmas if theyre not going to drop in price!

I don't think you will see much difference on the screen but the mini 2 has a better processor.
  • i believe so from what im reading up them, do all the mini's have the new lightening adaptor as opposed to the 30 pin connector?

Might be worth holding out for the Black Friday sale? may get a slight saving or some kind of bundle deal?

that's the date I've waited for in the past to order any Apple goodies...
