Resetting the clock

Hi Everyone,
First of all, many thanks for the excellent advice I've gathered from reading posts on here over the past couple of weeks.
The main thing I've found out is that I read the wrong advice some time ago (probably from a different site) and ignored a PCN that my daughter incurred back in April.
The situation right now is that I've received a couple of letters from a solicitor telling me that they're preparing to take me to court. Since I'm the registered keeper but wasn't the driver at the time, and the PCN was issued by post, I've tried to "reset the clock" by providing details of the driver. I used a template letter that I saw in a few posts on here, which basically says "Here are the driver's details. Under PoFA 2012 providing this information now discharges me, the registered keeper, of any further obligations and any court proceedings against me will be defended on that basis".
Today I received a letter saying that because of the length of time taken "for you to appeal", the PCN has been referred to a solicitor.
I'm in the process of writing a letter telling them that my original letter wasn't actually an appeal - it was a notification of the details of the driver. I'm also stating that under PoFA 2012 there is no time limit to provide such information, and that in doing so I have indeed discharged my obligations as the registered keeper. Does that sound like a fair and truthful reply? Is there anything else I should add?
Many thanks

Why not sit on your hands and let them dig themselves a hole, then you can get them on a code breach. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

OK, so you need to complain to BPA Ltd. and DVLA that this company is pursuing you as keeper even though they have the driver's details.
Have you received a solicitor's letter (Miah? Gladstone's?) since you dobbed in the driver? If so, report the solicitors to the Solicitors Regulation Authority for demanding payment from you when they know you are the wrong person.Je suis Charlie.0 -
Bazster and The Deep: your replies made me smile! Thanks.
I'll think send my letter as it is right now, just so they're clear about my role as the keeper. I haven't received anything from the solicitors (Premier Solicitors in Bedford) since sending my first letter but if I do I'll release the dogs just as you suggest.
As far as I know my daughter hasn't received anything so far but if she does I'll follow the procedure as set out in the newbies sticky post.0 -
Well, that follow-up letter to TPS worked a treat. I've just had a reply saying that the PCN has been cancelled and no further payment will be required!0

That's great news!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
