price for howdens kitchen & fitting

Hi

I have been quoted £3200 for a howdens greenwich kitchen ( and gas hob, electric oven & extractor, but no other appliances ) this is in the "sale" as its October

the fitter quoted £2000 to fit kitchen & two two doors ( but not supply said doors , 1 needs a custom made frame ) , skim of ceiling , eight spot lights & plastering ( floor fit is extra at £100 for laminate / £150 for tiles )

Do you think these quotes are ok ?

Lamona applainces will break about 3 minutes after the guarantee runs out. The lighting is a rip off. £60.00 delivery is about right. £48.00 for a sink and waste its gonna be rubbish. Worktop is ok priced. All the units and trims dont look to bad in price. There are no handles on the quote.
Dont have the corner units as drawerline it makes getting in the corners very difficult unless you have no choice. you only seem to have 1 normal base unit which I presume is for the sink? In which case its the wrong item code. Why do you have 3 x std wall height clad panels when you have no std height units? 5 Base decor ends seems a bit excessive?
Do you need all these clad on ends what colour kitchen are you going for? If you have the cream it will look good on a oak carcass so you can remove all the clad on and change the plinth and cornice/pelmet to oak as well

That sounds a lot for a small kitchen. My friend paid £1800 to have hers fited exc electrics, but it was very big, loads of units, and custom built area under bay window.

go to DIy kitchens .com and compare, great quality.

Your fitter will be marking up on howdens prices, as is common practice, so maybe room for more savings.

The lighting is a rip off. / £48.00 for a sink and waste its gonna be rubbish. >>> HOW MUCH SHOULD I BE LOOKING AT ?

There are no handles on the quote. >>> LEFT OFF ON PURPOSE BUT £7 EACH

    Moto,
go into howdens and ask to see the greenwich cream against the oak carcass, it should look good then you can remove most of the end panels.
The code they have put down for the 1000 sink unit is wrong the code they have used is for a standard 1000 base the sink unit has the rails set down lower to allow for the sink.
is the tumble dryer on the outside wall how is it vented?
If your not having handles why are they on the design are you using the push push system?
Why is the larder unit not up against the wall?
The hood looks lobsided? Not sure if the wall units are too close to the gas hob?
How are the shelves being hung? they will sag
why is there cornice on the shelf?

then you can remove most of the end panels >>which ones would need to be kept ?

is the tumble dryer on the outside wall how is it vented? >>> No its not on outside wall but it is a condenser & needs emptying

Why is the larder unit not up against the wall? >> Need a radiator there !

then you can remove most of the end panels >>which ones would need to be kept ? Only 1 NEEDS to be kept it depends if you want to blank off the corners, as its lamiante worktop spanning the dishwasher and washing machine will be fine, can always batten the wall behind.

How are the shelves being hung? they will sag >> don't know - didn't want a half cupboard above fridge so planner suggested open shelves/ The planner can design what they like no idea how your fitter will put up 18mm panels as shelf hanging on a wall unless he use large shelf brackets. I would put a half height unit over the top with a tall panel to the left of the fridge freezer to frame it if there is room but it looks very tight.

why is there cornice on the shelf? >> Don't know ?! Should there not be ?? No, you have a desinger who does not pay attention to detail before sending out plans.
Should your sink not be handed the other way round as well? Where will you stack things before putting them in sink?

  • Adam G - again thank you for your reply !

IS THAT WHAT YOU MEANT ???
