Is Tesco a takeover target?

Do you not need a large car park to park your car in when going to any supermarket ? I don't know many towns that could create enough parking to bring the large supermarket shoppers back into the town centres . We live on the edge of our town and travel 3 miles further out to get to Tesco , it takes about 10 minutes . To go into town would take 30 mins for the same distance , no chance of the Tesco superstore we use running short of customers willing to shop there .
The car park quite often is full and people waiting for spaces .
What my wife has noticed at this large store (she works there and has done for 19 years) is that people that used to always have a trolley and do their shopping all in one go are now there 2/3 times a week rather than once and do their shopping in smaller quantities . I think this makes it easier to not waste anything .
The last bit sums up my wife and myself well Minrich. One thing I would say though we used to buy all our food, baby and cleaning products from Tesco typically £150 per week upwards, now we probably spend £80 at Tesco in 2/3 small shops and also buy some things from Asda if its cheaper and Meat from Sainsbury's because its nicer/better quality.
My biggest gripe with my local Tesco is that they keep moving things around so you go in there to grab a few things in a rush and end up having to spend ages searching for it. There's also to many managers standing around looking at the long que's while there's not enough people serving behind the till's!0 -

But isn't it madness to shop for food (a basic necessity for life) at 5 different locations involving 5 of everything , the main one being time ?
Too many mangers doing nothing is one of the biggest problems with Tesco , they do not address the issues raised by their shop floor staff (THE LINK WITH THEIR CUSTOMERS) and carry on thinking they know best ! My wife has worked at her store 19/20 years , she has only ever had one manager who actually too notice and acted on what he was told , he left due to poor staff above him !0 -

Seems that they've got it more wrong than Tesco's.
Amazons business model depends on dominance in all their markets. If they fail it will be disastrous. Wheras if they succeed it will be disastrous - because they will be clobbered by the competition regulators.“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” --Upton Sinclair0 -
I've seen that they have at least one newly built store that has now been mothballed

It's also interesting to see comparison between Buffett and Woodford on Tesco. Woodford sold out above £3, Buffett bought at that price and is still holding at £1.70
Does this cement Woodford's reputation for getting big calls right?
Poor old Buffet only got 14 winners in his top 15 shares
Whether he still holds any Tesco shares I have no idea. AFAIK The only information that has been released is that his shareholding has fallen below 3%“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” --Upton Sinclair0 -
Though he's undoubtedly still in profit on most of these shares, he's been hit by falls in Coca Cola, McDonald's and IBM in the last week alone, on top of Tesco. The first two are fairly old holdings so no doubt his total gain is still large and yield-on-cost huge, but IBM's relatively new and likely to be at at a loss.Glen_Clark wrote: »Poor old Buffet only got 14 winners in his top 15 shares

Though I wouldn't be quick to write off his investing success or style, it's not all coming up Buffett right now. He's had periods of under-performing the market before, particularly during the tech boom, so I'm sure he'll weather it out. This is everybody's fault but mine.0 -

Amazon has been struggling for years to make a meaningful return. Investors patience is wearing thin.
TV coverage in the UK and strikes in Germany are doing little for it's PR image. All that's required now is an EU tax investigation.0 -

I usually call in on my way home from work etc, we waste a lot less than we used to doing it this way.0
