Correct way to do a refund/return?
Comments

I've just had an item returned, no case was opened and I've already refunded the buyer. I would like to get my fees refunded from Ebay though. Would I still be able to ask the buyer to cancel in this scenario ?
If so where exactly is the place you can send the request (I'll ask the buyer if he minds before sending)

Anyone got any idea re this please ?

Sorry to tag on to this but I am getting myself confused.
I have a spurious 'damaged' item, from a buyer that only leaves negs and neutrals. I would like to suggest they open a proper SNAD claim as I suspect they are serial claimers, but suppose any form of case against me is a defect?
I am tempted to risk the defect anyway, but Live chat have suggested I just offer a full refund on return and if they do leave a neg then go back to Live chat and see about getting it removed.
I'm really getting unsure about things now and am probably a bit gloomy having had 2 lots of supposedly damaged items in a week, but none previously for well over a year. Incidentally, the two items are completely different and the latest one is from a line where I have sold nearly 800 across a number of venues including face to face.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The three things to remember about refunds, cancellations and their defects are:
1. You cannot cancel an item which is dispatched. If it's dispatched and the buyer hasn't used the returns flow or a case, then undispatch and refund from the resolution centre (not before as it was previously).
2. Select the 'buyer wants to cancel/there is a problem with their address' option as this avoids the defect. The buyer doesn't need to agree, the process is simple and completed in a manner of seconds.
3. You cannot cancel when the item sold more than 30 days ago.
If you want to try to get your fees back after this date, you need to ring CS or speak on live chat.0
