I know the Easyjet website says only one item of cabin baggage allowed, ie a small suitcase, but just wondered if ladies are allowed a handbag as well, smallish, of course. OH lost without it.

the official answer is no - your OH can take a handbag but they will need to be prepared to pack it in their one item of cabin baggage if asked to do so at the gate (i have been asked, and have had to, do this so now i keep my handbag packed in my cabin bag until I've got on the plane).0 -
I was afraid of that. Oh well. Have to get one of those vests with umpteen pockets! Thanks for the info.0

Your one ‘cabin bag’ covers a bag, laptop case, brief case, handbag, bumbag, rucksack, carrier bag or wedding dress carrier
Motorcycle helmets are also allowed as/within cabin baggage (providing they follow the relevant size dimensions).
Please note that all these items will be classed as your one cabin bag.

Will both your pieces of hand luggage really be so tightly packed that you can't slip a handbag in there before you board?
I usually keep my hand bag with me until I get to the gate, unzip my hand luggage and pop it in to board, if I need it on the flight I then take it out again once I'm on the plane, or more usually just take my book/tablet out.
It is a bit of a farce though, instead of Easyjet having people getting on the plane, stowing their luggage and sitting down they have umpteen passengers blocking the aisles getting bags out of cases. Not very well thought through.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
IME the problem is with those non hold luggage customers who have to cram everything they want into a bag the airlines will accept for cabin luggage.
On a recent flight (especially the return with duty-free shop purchases) it was a real struggle for the staff to close the overhead lockers and there were umpteen little squabbles by all those who saved £15 quid each on not having hold luggage.
Some handbags are enormous now too -I did remark one passenger had one that was bigger than my sports/weekend bag!Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.
If you don't like my opinion feel free to respond with your own.0 -
Not a big issue, only going for a few days, just wondered. Berlin in winter is pretty cold, so lots of warm clothes, take up space, might want to bring things back, you know how it is. Not wishing to be cheap, but £30 each is best avoided if poss. for hold baggage. No doubt handbag will go in my case!!!0

OP
You do realise that it's not only the number of items allowed as hand baggage (the website is very clear that it is ONE, they mention it often and put it in capitals), it is also the dimensions of your ONE bag that matter.
There are 2 different sizes of hand luggage.
One is guaranteed to go into the cabin with you, the other (slightly larger) may be put into the hold at no charge to you if the overhead lockers are getting full.
Check out the information on the Easyjet website, it's very easy to understand.0 -

I don't know how long you're going for but I'd advise wearing all the heavy stuff like big coat, boots and big jumper. I found layering up was a good idea when sightseeing both for warmth and because I could wear the same big jumper but with a smart top underneath and look decent in a restaurant/bar when I took the jumper off. So limited stuff goes in the case anyway.0 -

yes I always wear my bulkiest clothes and heaviest boots on the plane on winter trips, to keep room in my cabin luggage and its then not to heavy when you're lugging your case around.0 -
There are plenty of standard size bags around, but the slightly larger ones seem as rare as hens teeth. Did notice, though, that the four wheel variety have less internal space than the semi-recessed two wheel type.
Just imagining an Easyjet Airbus with 100odd pax all swathed in multiple layers, sweating profusely, trying to squeeze into steerage class seats! Should be fun!0
