I made the mistake of accepting the iTunes update to version 12 today. Now half my album covers artwork have disappeared and there seems to be no way to manually recreate them because they have reduced the functionality of the Get Info facility.
Apple really are losing the plot.

I've just tried that and you can but, they've made it much more convoluted. Before, you could simply find the image by googling, copy it then return to iTunes and paste it directly into the artwork box ... not anymore.
Now you have to save the image to a destination on your hard drive, then got to the Artwork tab and navigate to that image to insert it ... then go back and delete it from your hard drive to avoid clutter. What was wrong with a simple copy/paste operation off the clipboard Apple?... Ah! That's what I've always done so I wouldn't have noticed any difference.0 -

Well it's academic now 'cos you can't anymore.
What really annoys me is that every time Apple bring out a new incarnation of iTunes all the cover artwork I've trawled from the net gets lost and I have to start all over again. A lot of my collection of CDs are so old that the artwork can't be found automatically....
