Thoroughly confused about Parking Eye

Firstly, thanks so much to everyone for their useful advice on here. I've had an £80 fine from ParkingEye for a ten min overstay in a free car park, where I did visit the shops. On reading all the advice (ok, so no idea what 'sticky threads' are but have been trying!) it seems that ParkingEye is now a BPA approved operator...........on the BPA site!

so what do I do now?! I don't want to pay and think it's a highly unfair charge, and I know that a lot of these cowboys rely on fear and intimidation, which I hate and refuse to bow down to. However, the final date for payment is today, so am panicking.........anyone able to help me out with some advice?
Thanks in advance,
:)

Start by reading the Newbies Sticky - Which is "stuck" as the one of the first threads on this forum - that outlines your situation and the various options for seeing them off.

So stop panicking and get reading - this is not any sort of fine and you can easily get rid of it with a bit of application. :)

Not sure why you think Parking Eye being in the BPA is a new thing.

You've not read the correct stuff to help you with this, the link below takes you to the NEWBIES sticky thread which tells you everything you need to know to make this go away. It will involve some work on your part though, please don't expect it to be done for you.

The BPA Ltd, (to give it its full name), is not some sort of official regulator like OFCOM, it's a cosy member's club financed by the parking "industry" and has little regard for the interests of motorists.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • Thank you so much to everyone for the quick replies, is so good to know there is help out there! I have downloaded and completed the complaints letter to send to them, hope they'll give up easily but I'm willing to fight if I have to....! Thanks again!

First, correction: 'I've had an [STRIKE]£80 fine from ParkingEye[/STRIKE] unenforceable fake invoice from ParkingLie.'

Only Police, Councils and London Transport can issue fines for parking events.

Second - the BPA Ltd is a self-cosseting Trade Body, which nonetheless has a cosmetic nod to its obligations to motorists and meets them- more often than not - in the breach.

Remember spikey, we all began feeling pretty much as you do now and none of us have paid these ludicrous present-day shysters, thanks to forum advice.

Go to Parking Prankster's blog afterwards - and stay updated, help and advise anyone similarly afflicted by these noxious practices.

PP's last 2 posts make fine reading, so long as you're not a Capita shareholder.

Apologies for repeating your point trisontana - putah is still in limp mode and not showing correct full screen.

spikey - it's worth noting that parkinglie have started to drop some scam demands when proof of shopping is copied/attached to 1st appeals. You've said you shopped.
Next, complain LOUDLY and STRONGLY to those patronised shops.

parkinglie are doing this not from goodness of [what? no, can't use the h----word in relation to their doings]...they are starting to do so to save themselves the £27 cost of a popla appeal.

I hope you used the one from the Newbies sticky thread on here (which is just ready to copy & paste) and not the one MSE Board Guides provide in some 'article'.

  • Be very careful when dealing with parking eye. Just returned from court where the judge (not very nice man) ruled in Parking eye's favour i ended up paying £200.00 for a £1.00 parking ticket. I argued all the points about "Loss to the land owner etc." and disproportionate to the original cost. Judge just said should have read the signs.

We are very careful when people ask for help with Court defences.

Did you come here or to pepipoo forum first and get help with the defence, or Google how to defend a PE court claim and found the Parking Prankster's meticulous Guide?

If you went to Court without knowing about Beavis then you were setting yourself up for a fall, unfortunately. Sorry but at least you tried, but had little chance if you were unprepared. It isn't about arguing no loss.

    Which court was it please?
