DWP email reasonable adjustment

As a non-speaker - I find it extraordinarily difficult to communicate with DWP - so was pleasantly surprised to hear that DWP are willing to offer an email service - They can agree to communication by e-mail as a reasonable
adjustment. In order to do this, you (or someone acting on your behalf) would need to send a letter to Disability Benefits Centre, Warbreck House, Warbreck
Hill, Blackpool, Lancashire FY2 0YE telling them :
• How your disability affects you, and
• How this makes it difficult to communicate by letter and telephone.
They will then be able to decide whether email is an appropriate way to communicate with you.

I just got cab to ring up for me. Saves a lot of time. They should have email there is first place without having to ask for it

    I agree - they should...
The fact that they don't has cost me over £1500 through a misunderstanding in WTC - I was "over paid" WTC, 3 years ago due to an underestimation in my income during the tax year - DWP threatened me with court despite my MP requesting that they hold fire - they hounded me until I repaid them...£1500
Had I had a way to communicate with them - they may have cancelled their claim - I wrote to them too (registered post) - no response to that !!
And the amount that I underestimated my income by - £1500 !!

DWP have nothing to do with WTC - that's HMRC.

I think you've got confused between DWP and WTC, they're both completely different.

The problem with CAB is they're almost impossible to hold of via a phone call. The waiting times are huge because so many people want their help.

Doesn't the information given in the OP only work for DLA / PIP?

I will be very surprised if my local BDC do this - they even struggle (and I have asked) to send me letters in large print. I'm on ESA because I can't read font size 16...
