Black Kitchen Tiles

Hi guys
Post from a newbie here.
I am tiling my kitchen and really the black brick effect ceramic tiles.
Has anybody got any reasons why they wouldn't use these. I'm thinking they could be a bit tedious to clean or possibly get dirty very easily. If you have any stories or experience with this style, I'd be grateful for some feedback.
Thanks!

They look lovely, but they arent the easiest to keep looking clean.
I find they show up every spec of dust and grease, and after cleaning I then have to go over them with a dry cloth to polish or they look streaky when the light catches them.
Love the brick effect tiles but maybe next time I will get white with just a single row of black to break them up.0 -
I like the brick effect tiles too, but all black will be very strong, esepcially if the kitchen isn't that big. As has been said will show up every speck of dust - you will probably have to clean with an e-cloth to keep them looking nice. A lot will depend how you live though - if you have a big family and pets and cook a lot there will be lots more cleaning than a single person living on takeaways!
They will suck the light from the kitchen so you will need to make sure you have good lighting. Plus they will probably make the kitchen look smaller. What colour are your units, worktops floor and walls? - on RM there are a lot of black and white kitchens, but I suspect they will date.....
Do you have a tiler in mind? When we had our kitchen done I chatted with the tiler and it was helpful hearing his thoughts.
Have you tried one of the kitchen planner software thingies you can download from Homebase and the like? You measure up your kitchen, put in windows and door and can choose wall colours and units. Doing this would give you and idea of how the black would look. You may love it or you may think , and the latter is best done before you buy and put up the tiles!!It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Thanks guys. I'll check out the Homebase planner.
The black does look great but two kids, three cats and a fondness for spag bol probably doesn't go great with it...0 -
I have them also with black grout, they are a bit of a nightmare to keep clean but I love them. I find that it is now routine to clean them at the same time that I clean my kitchen benches, they are also black0
