Obtaining credit files

Right, so, for the first time in years I will be debt free (phenominal amount of debt) at the end of the month. Although I/we (husband and myself) have no late payments or CCJs etc we want to get our credit files in order, as I still have a joint bank account with my ex husband (divorced years ago and only I use it and then only occasionally) and he is also the additional card holder on one of my cards.

I have no idea really what the files will look like and whether there will be any nasty surprises. I thought it best to wait until I was debt free to start another potential slog.

Should I get experian, equifax and call credit, and are all of these free?

Also my ex is quite wealthy so I'm wondering whether still having him as a link is a good thing (don't need to, not going to buy or use credit for a long time).
Never again will the wolf get so close to my door

I wouldn't worry about what the reports say. From a lenders point of view they'll only be interested in clear history. As clearing debts is one only stage. Next stage requires time. As time heals.
