Default from Orange - never used them!

I am trying to sort my credit report and there is a default showing which is really bugging me. It is with Capquest for a value of £132. After calling Capquest they told me it was for a mobile broadband dongle, gave me the account number and said balance still owing. So I e-mailed Orange asking the following:
Capquest have placed a default on my credit report for an Orange account. This is for an unpaid balance on a mobile broadband dongle. The default date on my credit file is February 2010. Capquest have told me Orange last received a payment on this account in July 2009. I have never had a mobile dongle from Orange or, indeed, any other company. I would kindly request that Orange ask Capquest to expunge this default from my credit report as, in my opinion, it does not belong to me.

Their reply was:
We’re writing to tell you that your account that was outstanding balance has been sold to another organisation.

Your account was sold to CapQuest Debt Recovery Ltd.

Not very helpful so I sent another e-mail:
Hi

I am aware of that but are you able to answer any of the questions as they are pertinent to my query:

When was the account started?
When was the last payment received by Orange?
What date was the account defaulted?
What date was the debt sold to Capquest?

Your help in these matters is needed and greatly appreciated.

Their reply came last night:
Thank you for your response.

We have once again looked into your account and can confirm that account was started on 21/06/2007 and last payment date on account was of 20/07/2009. Debt was sold to Capquest on 30/0/8/2011. Kindly contact Capqueest for any further account related query.

Thank you once again for contacting us and we hope this is helpful.

So a mobile dongle was taken out and paid for two years. Then stopped. Then two years later the debt was sold to Capquest. It makes no sense to me.

I am stuck! EE say talk to Capquest and Capquest say "pay me". What on earth can I do?

So did you enter a contract with Orange and subsequently fail to meet your side of the agreement?

I remember having a mobile phone years ago with Orange. But this is for a dongle. Which I've never had. I've gone to Stage 2 of their complaints procedure and sent a letter to their Sunderland office.
