Do I refund? Will I have fees?

What do you experienced ebayers suggest so that I'm not the loser?

I listed a garden wheelbarrow. It very clearly said buyer collects from ....in the listing. It also has ebays standard wording " collection in person" towards the top should the buyer not get to read to the general description. It was buy it now.

They bought it and paid during PayPal. I tutted as they could have paid on collection! I messaged them my address and they replied querying why I wasn't posting the wheelbarrow (duh!) as my lusting said postage was free. It didn't! They now demand their money back and I can keep the barrow.

What's your advice? I don't want to incur fees. Help appreciated.

Give them their money back, it isn't worth the hassle.
The next step should be to open a mutual agreement to cancel but the buyer may not agree so you wouldn't then get fees refunded. So you might need to check with Ebay for opening "disagreed in terms" dispute to get fees back.

    As RFW says.

You will lose 20p in Paypal fees.

Next time you may want to double check your live listing isn't show free postage, sometimes this can happen by accident or because of a glitch.
  • Try to be polite. I would just give them the money back, as anteater99 writes it's not worth the hassle.

It also pays to ensure that you have listed it as collection only, and not mistakenly merely added 'collection only' to the auction text leaving postage showing as free.

In some of the china and glass categories there are loads of collection only items where buyers have used the quick listing format, left postage in and as they hadn't noted a postage charge it shows as free.
