House insurance due but moving soon??

Hi
My home insurance is due for renewal next week. But we are looking to exchange contracts on a new house in the next couple of weeks and be completing with a month
I don't want to not get any cover for our current property just in case things fall through/something goes wrong/burgled etc in the mean time.
Can I get short term insurance from anywhere? Or can my home insurance be transferred to the new property? My concern with this is that I won't necessarily get the best rates
?
Any advice appreciated

Yes, it can be transferred.
Do quotes for both properties and base your decision on that. Factor in any admin charges for changes made.
Also be aware if you are getting quotes from insurers or brokers, most people dont know the difference these days.
The "problem" with the above technique and brokers is that they may appear cheap for both properties but may be quoting from a different insurer on their panel but once you buy you are not only locked into the broker but also the insurer that they initially place the business with so when you do your change of address you may find the price at the second property very different to what you expected.0 -
If your renewal quote is acceptable then perhaps get a quote for the new property from your current insurer. If this is ok then you can normally do a change of address when you move. There will normally be an admin fee for this so take that into account.
If you feel that your renewal is too high then get other quotes for your current property and for the new one.
If you are not going with the same company for both then take note of cancellation fees - it can be up to £50.0
