3 Generation City Break

I could really do with some ideas for destinations for a 3 night city break for 3 generations in April.
There's myself, my wife, 16 year old daughter, and my Mum. Last year we went to Dubrovnik, which was perfect. We had a day in the old city, a trip to the beach, a ride up the cable car. Three days easily filled, with no-one getting too bored.
I'm trying to recreate this again for next year, but haven't found anywhere that seems to tick all the boxes. I've had a look at Barcelona, Nice & Alicante. We aren't really shopping people, and whilst we're happy to sit around chatting and watching the world go by, we'll need some stuff to do.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

Paris - in the springtime :-)
I can recommend the gourmet dinner boats on the Seine. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
Prague - lovely old city.
No beach but you could do a river trip instead. While humming Smetana's 'Vltava': da da da da da daaa da da daaaah ....
Loved the old town centre, street performers, long walk through Letna Park.
Went to a concert at the main hall, and enjoyed a small concert in a church even more.
I didn't go in the main palace, saving for another time.
Palaces (several!) area and Museum of Communism remind you what a varied history the city's had.
Can't wait to go back.
P.S. Leave the any high-heeled shoes at home. All the streets are either (a) cobbled or (b) crossed by tramlines!0 -
Krakow gets my vote0

I went to Lisbon in September, lots to do and see, plenty of trams so you don't have to walk up steep hills, beach and parks, culture and lots of museums and historical sites. It was also reasonably priced and there are plenty of budget airline flights from lots of airports. I would also recommend Krakow and Prague but that wouldn't work for a day at the beach! Why did you rule out Barcelona?
If you liked Dubrovnik then what about Split? If you can get a flight then it's also a fabulous destination with lots of lovely islands and a beautiful old town - Brac island is my favourite for the famous Zlatni Rat beach (which means Golden Sands, nothing to do with actual rats)"I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." The islands near Split are great, Split itself isn't though. Not sure if there are that many ferries in April though.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

In addition to the very good suggestions already made (love Prague, and Lisbon came to mind for me too, though may not be beach weather there in April):
Rome - never short of things to see, great food. Beach is a day trip from the city though and may not quite yet have the weather (but that's the same around the Med at this time).
Naples/Sorrento - Naples is a bit lively, Sorrento more sedate, but plenty to do and see (Capri, Pompeii, Amalfi Coast) and weather should be good.
Berlin - Obviously no beach, but an excellent city of contrasts and good nightlife (though your daughter may be slightly young for that). Munich is also pretty cool.
Also consider Geneva, weather starting to get good, not many sights in the city but around the Lake is good, and obviously plenty of mountains for day trips. Obviously Switzerland is a bit more expensive.
Hope it helps0 -
