Parking eye issued PCN

Hi there, I recently dropped my girlfriend off at Leeds train station and I parked in the 'aire street car park'.
The sign stated parking charges were between 8am-6pm. I arrived at 17:51 so I decided rather than risk it I'd pay the £3.50 day fee. One week later I have received a pcn from parking eye stating I owe £100 as I left at 18:30.
I have looked online and I think there is a £2 for after 6pm. However I will check when I next pass but I don't think that the sign stated this else I would have noticed.
It's daft though because that means I would have had to pay 3.50 then come back at 18:00 and pay a further £2.
However my issue is that I don't think that this was sign posted or it was poorly done. It was dark and I didn't see any 'after
6pm' charges. I thought I was doing the right thing by paying.
Also I have been back to that car park before I got the ticket after 6pm so I didn't even pay so I'm expecting another now...
Where do you think I stand? I have appealed to parking eye and will then go to stage two if they reject and appeal to POPLA.
First time it's ever happened so I'm stressed out !
Any help is greatly appreciated!
