Do I smell some BS?

Buying a George wimpey new build, the house is complete, they kindly let us in this weekend, not on an official visit, but essentially we can see the house internally is complete, services in and working.
Outside we are waiting on turfing, and the completion of the path and garden at the front and side of the house. Not jobs in my limited knowledge that will take long.
I asked at the weekend for an estimate as to when completion would be, given that schools etc need to be organised, today they phoned and Wimpey say THE END OF SEPTEMBER!!!
Why? I ask - all they can say is that there is a backlog of inspections for the CML, this has to be done before completion.
A quick look on t'internet reveals no obvious reports of this. Is this BS? What's going on? Has anyone else experienced anything like this? We are not in a chain, and as you can imagine keen to get a move on. (You would be to with neighbours like ours)

in my experience builders want you in here as soon as poss and they want thier money in the bank. The reason that they have given sounds quite plauseable, the NHBC arevery strict and they do everything on thier terms so i would not panic.
    Good luck

By CML, do you mean Council of Mortgage Lenders? In my experience NHBC usually undertake a cursory inspection only.

To be honest, developers will always try to get you to move in ASAP, as Vicky says. I am suspicious why they are doing this?

Since you have 6 weeks, I would strongly recommend that you get a snagging inspection done by a professional inspector. Try https://www.snagging.org for more details.
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:

One of my former colleagues bought a new build (no idea who the builder was) and the house wasn't constructed on the foundations properly - part of it was overhanging the edge meaning that the front of the house was sitting on normal ground rather than a foundation.
This wasn't known to my former colleague at the time of purchase obviously!
When he started noticing large cracks appear he contacted the builder and a trial hole was excavated and that's when it was discovered.
In his experience the NHBC have been nothing short of useless and have been absolutely no help whatsoever.

The last time i spoke to him i think he had managed to get the builder to remedy the situation but he had to get lawyers etc.
He said NHBC certificate wasn't worth the paper it was written on.

i suppose lieeverything then it must depend on who is inspecting. our house failed dueto the boiler not being signed, the loft was1.5" of insulaton short and it did not have the 33% EE lighting it should have had it only had 20%

    good luck with your move

Thanks for the replies. The services as far as electricity gas and water are all in and working. Also the drive has been topped in the past week. I hope they don't put the turf in, as it will be a jungle by the time we move in. If not and we ever get a summer, who will be liable when it dries and dies?
I am hoping to get the site managers details today, and will speak direct. Lots of things the sales team have done and said make it that I can trust them about as far as I could spit a rat.

So from looking at a completion at the end of September, due to "delays caused by CML inspections" I got my solicitor to write and ask for a fixed completion date. I have now heard its 24th August.
I've checked my shoes, it was definitely BS.
