Crazy price difference on dishwasher

Can anyone tell us what's the difference between the Hotpoint slimline dishwasher LST216 from Homebase for £489 and the Hotpoint slimline dishwasher LST216A from John Lewis for £289?
Checking through the product information for both, they appear to be exactly the same except for the letter A and the fact that the Homebase one costing £200 more has an estimated annual water consumption of 2028L compared to the John Lewis machine's reported estimated consumption of 2860L (both report 13 litres used per cycle, which is obviously the more important figure).
Unless anyone else knows of another reason for this discrepancy, I think we're going to save £200
As an aside, looking for taps we came acoss the Caple brand, which is new to me. We tend to stick with known brands like Bristan or Pegler after being caught out a few years back when the nice taps we were sold from a big company (which later went bust) turned out to have been made in China and we couldn't get a replacement ceramic cartridge.

It's even cheaper at Appliances Direct.

My guess is that Homebase has inflated the price of the dishwasher at some point so that in a few weeks time (before Christmas?), they can half price it and shout from the roof tops about how amazing their £200 off dishwasher is.
Everyone does it and it's especially easy to notice when things are almost double price in comparison to other shops. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Nooooooooo!! They wouldn't do that would they?? :rotfl:0 -
Does it have to be a Hotpoint? I've had a Bosch and now have a Miele, both way better than the brand new Hotpoint we have at work.0

My Miele was repaired yesterday at a cost of about £300 - new hose and tank.0

Avoid Hotpoint. They don't have a particularly good reliability record.
Best for reliability: Neff, Siemens, Bosch, Miele.0 -
I agree the reliability of Hotpoint products is poor and their 'Customer Service' is DIRE.0
