Vanquis keep calling me at work

Have never had a vanquis account and by the sounds of it, would never want one, however, they keep phoning me at work, ringing the main number and asking for me by name.
The first time they called, they asked me to confirm I am 'the account holder' and I advised them that I had not got a Vanquis Account. They said 'oh sorry, it must be a mistake'.
They phoned me at work again today and this time they were gunning for an argument. I politely advised them that I did not have a Vanquis account and they then asked me to confirm my date of birth. I refused and they said that an account had been opened in my name. I told them that there must be 100's of people in the country with the same first/last name as me but doesn't mean I'm going to give them my date of birth. He said 'well ok but you are the account holder and this number has been linked to your account'. When I advised them to stop ringing me as I am not the account holder, the idiot on the phone suggested I contact the police to report the fact that someone with the same name has opened a Vanquis account.
Is there anything I can do to get it through to them that I am not who they are looking for? It is highly embarrassing being called by such low lifes whilst at work.

No, plus they don't call my mobile and I've not had any letters from them. I also don't understand how they can have linked a work number to an account of theirs.
If it were a personal number, I could understand their argument of someone setting up an account with my details, but they would not know my home address or date of birth from 'finding a work number' so what are they playing at? Are they seriously telling me that because someone in the country with the same first and last name as myself holds a vanquis account, that I must be that person??0 -
They'll try anything to get their money.
Send them a written letter demanding they stop harassing youChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
Now and again I get this from Kays catelogue. Never had an account. Very annoying...not really found a solution tbh. Aslong as its not someone opened an account in your name.0

You need to talk to Vanquis and find out more.0 -
Is your work number public?
Next time to ring ask them to confirm your address perhaps?0 -
yes, i think you should tackle this head on.
firstly, don't give anyone who calls you any more information about you.
i would call them, from work/withholding your number, and ask to speak to their fraud department.. and explain to them that you do not have an account with them. if they are certain that you do, and there has been fraud carried out by someone else in your name, they will have your home address. if they don't have this, tell them to leave you alone. if they do have this, there is a serious problem and you need to insist that they deal with it immediately.0
