Scottish Situation?

Recently received a Euro Car Parks PCN. I'm aggrieved for my stupidity, but I naively thought the 2 hour rule would cease to apply after 6pm (retail car park) so parking at 5.20pm would be ok. I returned at 11.20pm to find my car basically impounded due to the security gates that close at night. With little alternative, I slept the night in my car on and off, utterly freezing. I left at 7 am when the gate re-opened.
Ok, so I was stupid, but my question relates to the current Scottish situation, as reading older threads it seems that ignoring letters is not the done thing in England any more. Has anything changed in Scotland? Should I ignore my letter (which comically says I left at 11.26pm - they fail to state that I stayed the night since the barrier was down). Would an appeal with my no-home-to-go-to story work? Maybe I should charge accommodation costs to Euro Car Parks!

At the moment the advice in Scotland is to ignore unless you receive court papers. Court papers in Scotland are rare, although you should be aware that UKPC have just issued some in the Dundee and Forfar area - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5080750

Yes ignore and save the pulp for emergency bog paper, one never knows when you could get caught short.
PPCs say its carpark management, BPA say its raising standards..... we all know its just about raking in the revenue.

What did you decide when you read 'Private Parking Ticket? Newbies please read these FAQs first' which covers Scotland?

If things had changed the sticky thread of FAQs and advice would be updated.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
