LV Refusing to issue no claims bonus

Hi, i'm in need of some advice with my wifes insurence!
She was insured with LV for 9 months, but after informing them of a change of address they almost doubled the premium, £70 a month to £125 a month!
After arguing how this could be and LV not budging we decided to cancel the policy, and take out a new policy with Quinn.
All was fine but now we've had an email from Quinn asking for proof of no claims, so we contacted LV and they've refused to give us proof of no claims until the remaining debt is paid in full.

We sent Quinn a copy of our Admiral (previous insurer) certificate stating 5 years no claims bonus dated beginning of 2014 but Quinn has asked us to confirm this was our last insurance policy held (which it wasn't) but i've read that the certificate remains valid for 2 years?

I'm just really not sure what to do, we don't have the means to pay LV at the moment and we're barely scraping by as it is.

  • Its fairly normal for an insurer not to be willing to help you whilst you are in debt to them otherwise your incentive to pay the debt goes down massively.

Ultimately register a complaint with LV, if you arent happy with their response then you can escalate the matter to the FOS. Given this process is likely to take anything from a few weeks to a few years you really need to keep Quinn informed to avoid them cancelling the policy for failure to provide proof of NCD

You could ask Quinn to contact LV directly for the proof but they (a) may not be willing to and (b) may not like hearing LV telling them you have outstanding debts with them

also if you say it was your last, quite easy for them to check. this may end in insurance fraud
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Valid for 2 years before its used. The problem is you have already used it with LV.

If you have a claim or Quinn choose to look into your details further then you risk having the policy cancelled.
Worse if they refuse to payout on any claim you make.

Case on here a while back they got a bill for £8000. And another forum i use someone had a bill from the insurer for £16,000 and thet were risking losing their home.
