Best VOIP company for small business?

Hello All
Classic question: my wife and I have a small company each, we use only one tel line for home and business. Not good for image!
What we are after is a company offering 1/ good quality calls 2/ cheap monthly rental 3/ ability to offer a 0800 number
Our traffic is low, it is really in order to have separate lines for incoming calls. We are with a fast, stable Virgin broadband.
First candidate looks like Vonage, but their clients do not look smitten by the customer support.
If you are using such a company are you are happy with them, we would love to hear about it.
Thanks!

What are you going to terminate your call on landline, mobile, etc etc ?0

Hi Oldharryrocks
All calls to be terminated in home office, so i suppose that would be via Internet?
We have a stable, fast broadband connection, so the idea would be to do away with extra lines.0 -

No suppose about it.
I think what was being asked was:
ATA
VoIP phone
Smart phone with an APP
PC with mic / headset
Though most if if not all providers can use all methods.
I have been using Sipgate at home for over ten years, and would recommend them. Not sure about the 0800 number though.0 -
@ Inner Zone
Thanks.
Got it. VoIP phones. Would like to be able to have the basic PBx functions (call transfer from one phone to the next)0 -
If you are looking for VoIP for your business, then note that you get what you pay for.
Some cheap providers do not provide their services from within the UK (Sipgate have their servers in Germany I believe).
Also, Virgin Media and Sky can cause issues with VoIP (or more accurately it's their supplied routers).
I suggest getting a proper business ISP also otherwise you will most likely run into issues and their 'support' will not be willing to help.0 -
@ LazyTyper
Thx
Cost of business ISP not warranted by small volume of incoming/outgoing calls. This is really to avoid clients feeing like we are so small we use a house number only (and yes, we are very small, but want to go up in the world!)
Must stick to existing ISP (Virgin, not nice to deal with when you need any support), so can you see any "light" alternatives?
