Hi all,
I would very much appreciate if anyone with any input to offer could share it on the area of Penkhull? I'm looking at a property near the Sainsburys in ST4.
Thank you very much,
Steve

Sorry Steve, not overly familiar, although I have visited a few times. All i know is that Stoke is a NIGHTMARE to drive around!!!
To the best of my knowledge, the ST4 area is OK, the ST6 area is probably a bit hectic (football club/college nearby.)
Hopefully someone can advise you better soon.
Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!

Penkhull is considered a desirable little part of Stoke. It's within walking distance of Stoke town centre (up a steep bank) and it has a nice little village feel. Lots of lovely historic buildings, and quite a few newer houses dotted around with terraces at either end.
People will generally be a little less favourable to Burslem (aka the mother town), but there are nice bits of it. Like anywhere in the Potteries, the housing stock is mixed and you can find big historic homes meant for managerial workers in the 1800's next to new builds next to terraces. A bit far away from ST4, though?
What the other poster said about traffic being a nightmare around Stoke is absolutely true. I commute about 10 miles outside of Stoke and the vast majority of journey time is spent inside the city during rush hour sitting in jams.
If you want to walk to work in Stoke town centre, areas you may want to look at are... Shelton (mainly asian and student area between Hanley and Stoke), Hartshill (between Stoke & Newcastle town centre), Stoke (lots of varied housing up the "West End") and Trent Vale. Lots of bus options around Stoke if you don't mind a commute a bit further (which you'll need to do to get to Burslem).0 -
I work in Hanley and the traffic getting in via the A50 is horrible! Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

The area around Sainsbury's has lots of terrace houses, I live in st4 and it covers quite a large area.My sister in law has lived within walking distance of Sainsbury's for 20 years and she is very happy there. Penkull is a good area and the properties are good sellers lots of nurses and hospital workers live there because it is in walking distance to the large new hospital. The area around Sainsbury's has new houses as well as terrace houses, as I said I live in st4 and 2 minutes away from my house there is a large park with a large lake it is beautiful I walk my dog there twice a day, in the other direction 5 minutes away there are fields that I also walk the dog there. Stoke town centre only has Sainsbury's the rest of the shops are charity shops and pound shops I don't go to the shops in stoke only Sainsbury's now and again.
The people in stoke are nice when I am out with the dog people say good morning, I don't think crime is high I always feel safe.
some excellent schools and some not so good.
Property prices are cheap compared to other parts of the country.
Burslem is a run down area of stoke with a lot of empty properties.
If you let me know the street name I will tell you what its like.
Traffic is bad at rush hour I drive through stoke each morning going to work if you know ways of avoiding the a50 its not to bad by 9 o'clock in the morning the roads are quite.
Hope this helps and if you have any questions I will be happy to answer them.0 -
