Pay by phone with wrong reg

Not sure if I can win my appeal.
Tower Hamlets London gave me a parking ticket as the car registration on the pay by phone system was for my old car.
I wrote to them to explain I paid for my parking and sent them my receipt and that I did not realise the automatic system had my old car details. I expected them to write it off but they replied 'we sympathise with your situation but it is your responability to have the correct registration on the account, and that I would have had to confirm the registration when buying the ticket'.

I was not aware of any confirmation otherwise I would have updated it to the correct one.

Not sure if I have a strong case for appeal, just is wrong to be made to pay when I thought I was doing the right thing, after all they have received my parking money for the time I spent there.

It's a strong case for adjudication because the Chief Adjudicator found in favour of someone in a similar situation a couple of years ago. So post on pepipoo for help to try to win, this is the forum for you:

Don't post there without pics of BOTH sides of the PCN and the rejection letter in its entirety. Most cases there are won but you have to forget the discount 'carrot' and go with your gut feeling to appeal all the way.
