I need to source a wireless hard drive, must have its own battery and be connectible via IOS and a laptop, anyone got any recommendations? Price isn't the first concern connectivity is.

I am also after a wireless drive , but in my case slightly different.
requirements:
case only to take a 3.5in or 2.5 in drive , mains operated if necessary (will be if using a 3,5in drive)
not a web interface , accessible by any desktop/laptop connected on the network , not a UPnP interface or media player , just a simple network accessible drive , the ability to connect by USB as an option would be nice
any thoughts anyone?0 -
A quick Google for wireless HD shows plenty of choice, take your pick. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0

Ah, OK. I'm always a bit wary about recommendations as one mans rubbish is another mans treasure. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -

I have a very old HP MediaVault NAS I've had it for years and it just works. Other than this I have little experience to offer any other recommendations although I'm sure almost any modern NAS will be as good, if not better.
I plugged it in, set it up and ever since it has sat on my network and is accessible by every machine on the network.
It has a USB ports although I've never used them.
When you say no web interface, what do you mean? Mine is set up initially via a web interface and it's how you set up the drive partitions and security for access etc. but after that you just connect, only the Admin is done via the interface. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
it is a WIRELESS drive (enclosure) I am after , not a NAS drive
I also have a dlink dn320l nas drive with 2 drives as raid , I also own several USB drives
the performance of the usb drives when connected thru either the usb sockets in either my router or the dlink are dire,
I would like a free standing drive that when wired up , would quickly and easily join my network , and the ability to turn it off , go elseware with it and join other neworks or plug in by usb0 -
This is the one I am looking at, certainly not a NAS...

thanks , looks good , however it is set up as a UpNp device , specifically for access to media (video/documents/music)
my nas drive contains over 12000 audio tracks , and the UpNp setup of cataloguing is incredibly slow , hence running as a drive with just a directory structure0 -
http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/pc-components/storage/disk-drives-hdd-ssd/seagate-wireless-plus-2tb-1253706/review#articleContent yes that drive is a UpNp device , and access can be gained to the whole drive by using a web browser , not a file explorer , its aimed at anderoid owners .
not suited to my needs0
