Transferring Files From Windows 98SE TO Vista ( External Hard Drive ) ?

My parents are soon to be getting a new PC as there old one is dieing now.
They have like 6Gig of photos and some word documents they need to put on new comp.
I was guessing best way would be to get an external hard drive to save the files on.
I am however struggling to find an external hard drive which will work on windows 98 SE and then Vista on new comp.
So I was hoping someone may know of a external drive to do the job or another way of doing it.
Any help would be very grateful.

or you could link them up in a network, easy if you have a router, or you could get a hard disk caddy, put the old drive in that, and attach to new system, copy files across.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
