TV volume failure

Hi All
I have a 2002 Sanyo CRT TV. Suddenly while watching it the other day the volume suddenly went very low. I found that if I turn the TV off via the remote and on again, the sound comes back on but it's random how long it stays on, maybe a few seconds, maybe an hour. Tapping the inbuilt speakers can also sometimes have the same effect!
I know the ultimate answer is to buy a new TV but I wondered if anyone had had this issue as well and knew what the issue is and if there is a DIY fix as otherwise the set is still good?
Thanks for your feedback.

Could be a soldered connection is a bit dodgy. When the TV heats up it fails.
It is finding the dodgy connection and fixing it. Ok if you know what you are doing. If not, buy another TV. If you cannot afford a new one, there are loads of them at auctions that sell electrical goods. You can get a really good TV for not much money. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0
