solicitors fees first time buyer

Hi,
My offer on a house was accepted yesterday and i'm looking for a solicitor. Can anyone that has recently purchased a property advise me what they paid. I'm a first time buyer, the house is below the stamp duty threshold and is not a listed building.
Thanks

Shop around. Consider the advatages of a local conveyancer you can visit over a distant one, or internet-based one.

Look carefully at quotes. Many have hiddn 'extras' so are not as cheap as they first appear.

  • Depends on value and any extras or complications. fee will be £500 upwards plus fees for land registry surveys vat and stamp duty

You should be able to get a quote easy enough

It depends on the cost of the property and where you are getting your solicitor from, obviously those in London will cost more, however for a house of between 300-500k you will be looking at around £800-3000

    Good luck with it
  • I'm in a very similar position to you. My solicitor is charging me £500 + VAT and £350ish for searches so the best part of £1000 in total.
  • £570 incl VAT for fees including any searches etc, plus £60 land registration fee.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
