Electoral roll help - credit

Hi all,
We have lived in England since birth, and both me and my wife have been on the electoral roll since we were allowed to vote.
We are now moving to the Channel Islands permanently, for a few years at least, and then will probably be moving back to the mainland at some point.
Once we return, one day we may need credit, loans, cards etc and I know the electoral roll makes a huge difference.

Can you still be registered on the uk roll from over there, or are you removed off it and have to reapply once returning or something? I guess my worry is that once back in the uk we won't be able to get credit, phones etc?

Any advice greatly appreciated.
