Store cards PPI - going back to 1993 & 2004

Hi everyone, I need some advice.
I have been in correspondence with Santander (bought over GE Capital) regarding two seperate PPI claims for an old House of Fraser Store Card and a Top Shop Store Card. However, they have declined my claims on the basis that I agreed to the PPI in-store when initially opening the store cards. Santander state that the PPI was therefore sold to me on a non-advised basis. They say the terms and conditions were subsequently issued to me via post within a period of 30 days (to be honest I am not even sure if I received these due to time lapse). They can only provide the credit agreement relative to the opening of the House of Fraser Store Card. This actually states "Remember to add Account Cover to your application - it gives you peace of mind!". They no longer have any paperwork relative to Top Shop Store Card, again due to time lapse. To date, I have not received a copy of the actual terms and conditions, albeit a further copy has been requested.
Is there anything that I can do to take this further??? Surely at the time of opening these cards the store was required to provide some advice? Also should GE Capital have had a duty to contact me direct (telephone) to discuss the purpose of the PPI cover and whether it was necessary given my personal circumstances?

Advice has a defined meaning in financial services. A financial adviser, for example, gives advice and is qualified and regulated to do so. This is typically done after they have asked a wide range of questions about you. Now that you've complained to Santander and been rejected, you can complain to GE Money which is Genworth....you may or you may not have sme success.
