Back up twice? How?

So we use a six year old Macbook and back up on an external hard drive with Time machine. I have deleted lots of pics and stuff that was on the Macbook so they now only exist on the external hard drive.
I feel I should now back these up on something else?
What would be best, another hard drive or memory stick or???

Preferably cloud or other storage which is not in the same physical place as you current backup.

You should have backed it up to a second location before deleting the files from Macbook as at the moment you have no backup.

As you have already realised, you don't technically have a backup at the moment.
If its your only copy of an item then its not a backup.

What sort of size are we talking about?

if its an old MBPro then it might have only had a 500Gb hd to start with?

I don't use time machine but can you 'restore' files to a new location such as an external hard disk?

If yes then I would purchase a new external Hard Disk and restore all my files to there. If they are in normal OS format so I could see them and not hidden inside a blob of 'Time Machine' data then I personally would feel more comfortable.

Again, I don;t use Time Machine so some of the above might not be possible but it might give you some ideas on what to Google for.
