Problems with 64 plate Corsa(Vauxhall)

HI, I purchased on 0% finance through a Vauxhall dealership a new 64 plate corsa Excite on 12th Sept 2014, I had to take it back on the 14th Sept, as there was an issue with the paint finish ( which we paid extra for) also there was a noise coming from the rear wheels, had to take the car back 3 days later to be photographed re: paint..they also took it for a test drive & found NO noise, also there was an issue with damp in the boot & passenger areas. Then on the 24 th Sept, had to call the AA out to my place of work, as the journey in the rear brakes started to grind whilst braking. Then there was a vibration from the front foot wells, the car was taken in on the 1st Oct. for inspection etc. delivered back to me a day later, their solution for the vibration, to put more insulation under the carpet ( drivers side only ), now there is loads more, it wont go into gear properly, there is a grinding noise from the front wheels, these have supposed to have been checked, but they say that it is just a characteristic of that model...!!!???Requested a different car, they say NO...??!!

    corsa Excite

Isn't that a contradiction in terms?

OP - you don't seem to be asking anything, was it just a rant or are you looking for help with something?

Go back to the dealership and let them know that they have a further chance to fix the problems or you will be rejecting the car as not fit for purpose under the sale of goods act.

I'm sure others will be on to let you know the exact terminology to use.

Think he wants what he paid for - a car without faults.
    I would want a replacement.
Sure someone will be along with knowledge on it, like rejecting it as not fit for purpose and quoting the sale of goods act.
It's not what you've paid for, and needs to be right.

First point is that you should absolutely be looking at rejecting it. It can't do any harm to pay an independent mechanic for a half-hour check over of it to spot what's causing the issues and document them.

Second point is that Vauxhalls are still not known for their quality, and I'd personally favour a one year-old one, where someone else has taken the depreciation hit and had the niggles sorted out.

Technically the car belongs to the finance company, so you would need to write to them outlining the problems and what you would like them to do.
    Either reject, replace, or repair.
If it's Vauxhall's own finance dept, they might want to repair.
  • HI all, thanks for the support & suggestions....I have contacted Vauxhall Customer services & the dealership, only to be told that the they have REJECTED my letter for a replacement vehicle, the dealership has actually sent me a letter stating so & they have put in writing that this issues are a "Characteristic of that model"...I have been in contact with GMAC ( Vauxhall Finance)& to be honest they are sending out an independent inspector,I have contacted Trading Standards & received much help off them..sorry, but didn't state originally.....!!!What are my Rights...???? Please help....

We could have a few guesses.

Paint - what is the issue?
probably solved by respraying a panel if mismatched panels, but plastic and metal are hard to match anyway.

Damp - most probably a poorly fitted door/hatch/taillights seal, or a missing grommet.

Rear brakes - could be the handbrake cable too tight

general brakes - could be a warped disc if you are lucky.
Saying that, google the issue and grinding/noisy brakes have been an issue for a few years. So, yes, they all do that, Sir!

gears - maybe just getting used to a new car with a different clutch bite

tbh I don't think there's enough to reject the car yet until the engineer has had a look and commented.

HI again,....well, I have had a right time with the powers that be....to cut a very long story shorter....they sent out an Independent Inspector....he highlighted that there are issues as stated...GMAC ( finance Co ) applied to Vauxhall to have the car replaced....Vauxhall declined that, stating that the " Independent Inspection " that had been organized by Vauxhall Finance, would NOT be recognized.!!!!!!????...SO....they suggested that it was taken to yet another Vauxhall Garage for another inspection...this was done......and low and behold the same issues identified....then I received a letter dated 22 December 2014 from the finance company..( GMAC, Vauxhall ) stating, that the problems with the car, are in fact " Characteristic of the Model "...???? I have now sent ALL correspondence to the Financial Ombudsman...I have also filed a form with BBC'S Watchdog Programme....WHAT ELSE CAN I DO....??
I have stated that the sales person NEVER pointed out these Characteristics, nor does it state the same in the brochure supplied at the time of looking to buy.......I now notice that there is now an advertisement on TV showing the NEW Corsa...this also fails to point out the problems with this model.....buyer BEWARE......stay well away......buy another make......

why did you opt to buy a brand new car on finance? What is your driving nature and how many miles do you do per year?
