Washing Machine water supply wont turn off

Help! I'm having a new kitchen fitted tomorrow and have just tried to remove the washing machine to find that the water won't turn off!
There are no levers on the pipes so I assume these have broken off, the screw/nut things will not turn in either direction when using pliers. I know I can get a plumber to fix this but probably not before tomorrow.
Would it cause any problems to leave the washer where it is and when the fitters get to that part of the kitchen, shut the water off at the mains for a bit? The washer is staying in pretty much the same place so no pipework needs moving or anything but I assume they will want it out of the way whilst working on that part.

The kitchen fitters may have come across this situation before and have more knowhow to deal with it. If you call out an emergency plumber it is going to cost you a fair bit.
They may want to turn off the water anyway and if the washing machine is in the way they will move it.The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
Yes, agreed, it's not uncommon.
Turn the water off at the SC (stopc!ck) mse:), and force the valve with gland pliers.
If it doesn't shift then simply replace the valve.
Best done before the fitters get to work.;);)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
What's wrong with the word 'stopcock'??
Leave it - the fitters will fix it - and if they can't then employ better ones.
