which boiler? help please

hi
I have been given a few quotes for having a new combi boiler fitted. the firm I liked most were a little bit more expensive but they seemed the most professional and I felt more comfortable with them.
they have given me two quotes for two different boilers.
I'm having trouble working out which is the best way to go.
they have given me one quote for a baxi sole HE A or for about £250 more a Worcester greenstar.
I'd never heard of baxi before & they kind of gave the impression there's not much difference between the two except with the Worcester your mostly paying for the name.
any body have any experience with either?
I searched on Google but most reviews etc... we're a few years old now so might be a bit out of date.
thanks for any help you can give :)

My Gas engineer told me that he loves Glow Worms as they are easy to service, cheap parts and good boilers. Wish we had got one now.

Not a specialist by any means, but I think Baxi are a reasonable brand.

When British gas came last month to service mine (a simple older Solo 3 PF), I asked if I should be thinking about an upgrade and the reply was a very assured NO, as you can find parts and they are cheap, plus they are reliable.

On this basis and on the fact that my boiler is 14 years old and working perfectly (touch wood!), I would recommend Baxi.

Baxi aren't as good as they used to be. Would opt for the Worcester everyday , but Vaillant is IMO the best out there
  • I'd pay the wee bit extra and get the Worcester Bosch. IMO Worcester and Valliant are the two top producers. Both in reliability and in parts availability, even after 10yrs

Which magazine recently voted Worcester as best
  • Baxis are good boilers with good after sales as are Worcester. Vaillant are good boilers but their after sales is rubbish as is there glow worm brand.

Go for the Worcester boiler if you want reliability - you can't beat them. Forget the Baxi.

As intimated above Valliant now own Glowworm

I have used GW for over 30 years, no issues.

Baxi are 1 of the earliest boiler suppliers, been around for zonks, so don't worry that you haven'r heard of them.

Look, they are all complicated electronically controlled machines.

They do go wrong regardless of brand or cost, all the top names are good, some installers always reco the brand they favour.

That can be because it is the least likely to cause them trouble and recalls or that they are available with the best discount.

I think the question is best answered by saying your choice of installer is probably more important than the boiler choice.;);)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
