Hermes terminology

Hi everyone

I recently purchased something from an online seller and it's being delivered via Hermes.

Under the tracking info I got, the description is: Awaiting courier pickup or parcel dropoff

Does anyone know what this means?

It's still with the seller - they haven't dropped it off at a drop-off point, or it's not been collected by the courier

It means they've booked a collection or printed labels to drop it off at a shop. Later today it should start showing proper tracking.

Thanks very much - was a bit confused as got a "it's on it's way" email from seller.

That's understandable - I mark as Despatched once an item is packed and booked on the courier's system (usually in the evenings). It may not actually leave my house for up to 20 hours if they pickup late the following afternoon.
