Hi Everyone
Just a bit of advice for you all I had my case against Egg card for PPI looked at by the ombudsman service who came back with a no answer I did not give up as a point of principle as Egg has a shocking track record of mis-selling this product I opted for an official Ombudsman to reveiw my case and to my delight she found in my favour!so the morale of this story is dont give up use you right of appeal yes it took 3 years but I have just received a cheque for £1107.36 GOOD LUCK to you all!

You are one of the lucky ones. 89% of ombudsman rulings side with the adjudicator. They rarely override with PPI given the simplicity of the issue (its normally on complex cases where overrides occur).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

In 89% of final decisions, ombudsmen reached the same basic conclusions as the adjudicators who handled the cases in the earlier stages. This was a very similar proportion to the previous year. Where ombudsmen came to a different conclusion, there was either a finely-balanced judgement call or, more often, new facts came to light at a very late stage.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I fail to see where luck played a part in the Op's success....she won because they missold, the ombudsman said so.0

By the same token, the Bank and the FOS adjudicator had previously said the PPI was not mis-sold. The "luck" element was clearly that the Ombudsman found against the adjudicator which is very unusual.I fail to see where luck played a part in the Op's success....she won because they missold, the ombudsman said so.
Conversely, one might also describe the OP as unlucky in that he had to wait three years for a successful outcome!
To be honest, I can't help thinking that there must be more to this than the OP has related. I wonder did the OP introduce new evidence not in his original complaint.0 -
Hi
For the record I did not produce new evidence the Ombudsman upheld that that small print was not readily available on the screen at time of purchase0 -

Hmmm... Not sure about that second bit. If someone offered me 8% interest in my money for 3 years I'd snap their hand off!!!0 -
Perhaps, but you'd only do that if you were certain of getting your money after the three years. The OP has had to wait three years without any such certainty that any money (let alone 8% interest) would eventually be his.Insider101 wrote: »Hmmm... Not sure about that second bit.
