Parking ticket with incorrect time

Hi all

Yesterday I received a parking ticket for parking on private land. The ticket was issued by Parking Zone Ltd, who I don't think are part of IPC or BPA.

I intend to follow the amazing advice by "coupon-mad" on this forum, and use the letter format that they suggested.

However, only nuance here is that the parking ticket that I was issued states a time of 10.41 - this time is definitely wrong, as I did not leave the house yesterday morning until at least 11.20. Hence its impossible that they could have issued me the ticket at 10.41.

For this reason, I was intending to add the following paragraph to coupon-mad's standard letter:

"Finally, you’ll note from the enclosed copy of the PCN that it clearly states that the car in question was in apparent violation at 10.41 on 19 October 2014. This is a clear fabrication, as I and others can witness to the fact that the car was at my residential property at that time and date. The PCN notes that “date and time stamped photographic evidence” has been taken – I therefore (without prejudice to anything else in this letter) enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope for you to provide me with such evidence that matches the exact time and date of the PCN, which I know will be physically impossible, without some manipulation or forgery."

However, I wanted to sense check this before doing so. Any advice would be much appreciated.

NB: Reading further into coupon-mad's post, I thing the first advice is actually to "consider waiting for the postal 'Notice to Keeper' in MOST cases". Given the PPC here is Parking Zone Ltd - are they small-fry? I can't find them on the list of IPC or BPA approved companies, so does this mean that actually they may not even be able to get my details from DVLA?

    NOOOOOO !!

Do NOT make any contact with them WHATSOEVER! If they are not a member of an ATA (and I've checked both IPC and BPA lists, and they are not), they cannot get access to your name and address - unless you serve it up to them on a plate.

Do nothing on this - and you'll hear no more.

If anything further does occur, come back for more advice. But, to repeat myself, DO NOT contact them!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

  • Well, I don't think one could make it any clearer than that. :)

Many many thanks. I shall keep off from any further action / contact unless I hear from them.
