Can you have a paypal account using a credit card?

Can anyone please help me? I am wanting to open a paypal account but want to use a credit card, instead of my debit card/current account, for payment to paypal Firstly because have I had my debit card cloned twice and then had money taken/spent out of my current account so had to wait the usual length of time for the bank to correct matters and also to have double protection in case I pay for something which is either not delivered or does not meet the sellers description of condition or category of use. Or of course I get cloned again. I would want to apply for a credit card just for this purpose so would go for one which would make me money on purchases. I will be paying the whole amount off each month. Is this possible as I do not know much about paypal. Many thanks.

Yes. But you won't get the section 75 protection, unless Paypal fail to pay the vendor. It won't cover failure of the vendor to deliver.

I'm pretty sure you need to give your bank details. If not to pay with (fund the paypal account), then for paypal to pay you for funds received. So paypal will then have your bank account details.

But you can opt to pay (i.e. add funds to paypal) by credit card if you wish.

You are protected whatever way you use paypal via paypals various protection schemes. You get no added protection by funding paypal via a credit card..

If you don't intend to receive money then you don't need to give bank details

You can also receive money and use it to buy things (but beware paypal soft holds and the lifetime receiving limit (until you close the account anyway))

You are better protected with using a credit card because you can always claim unauthorised use with paypal and the payment will be reversed without you having lost anything.

I'm not sure in what way paypal payment source may be used without authorisation, but if it does happen, any payment source (bank direct debit, debit card or credit card) will refund you for such fraudulent activity :)

That's if paypal don't refund you, which, depending on circumstances (which as I say, I'm not sure what you really mean) probably would anyway.
