Linens Limited lie of order status

On 7th Oct, I ordered something from LL on Amazon. The following day, I got an email saying the product was dispatched.

I still not received it by 17th so I contacted LL by the contact seller button.

Email from LL says sorry for the delay as not received order to warehouse and anticipate dispatch in next few weeks.

Why lie to customers?

If the dispatch thing on Amazon is automatically done, could they not stop it saying it's dispatched when it has not been made yet?

I have requested a refund.

  • I believe it is an automated email from Amazon that tells you that the order has been dispatched when you buy from a marketplace seller. I'm guessing they have some sort of setting on their amazon account that says how quickly they generally dispatch (ie items dispatched the working day after an order is placed) and when that time arrives amazon automatically sends a dispatch email out. I don't know how much control the marketplace sellers have over it, but agree that the emails are annoying when they get it wrong!

Sellers get marked down for dispatching late or refunding, so that's why they marked it as dispatched.. Sneaky.

I'd be interested to hear how you get on as I am considering ordering some things from them.

I have probably found this far too late to stop you but would advise checking their negative and neutral feedbacks on eBay plus the Review Centre where they have 133 "1" ratings (the lowest) out of 162 reviews. I wish I had done that before buying as late dispatch (common practice) is the least of customers' worries! Everything I bought from them including a duvet fell apart after a matter of weeks. Never in my life have I had pillowcases come apart along the seams! I bought from them on Amazon and eBay - Paypal refunded the eBay purchase in full when they saw the photos. Amazon however would do nothing after 30 days even for faulty goods and advised me to take the seller to court. This I have done but months later having ignored communications, rather than refund £75 they have set their lawyers on the case!

Lesson learned I found way superior Vantona bedding at an excellent price on Just Linen, part of Dawsons Department Store's website and they were such a pleasure to deal with (and take Paypal) I have since bought a superb gas BBQ from another of their sites. Competitive prices with next day delivery and great communication. Highly recommended!

Linens Limited are, in my experience, an AWFUL company and reading around on t'internet, I'm clearly far from alone.
Selling average or sub-par stuff at high prices and giving clearly not one s**t about their customers.
Found this thread on search, may start a vent thread on this soon, they deserve it. :rotfl:

Edit: Have just read the £75 bit of your post, rotti!

Have had hell with LL, ended up speaking to their 'Executive Director' by email today - even he point blank refused to refund £22!
Multi million pound company, it's kind of hilarious at the same time as being bizarre, incomprehensible and infuriating.
