I need to get away next week, for various reasons I will be on my own. As Ive never done this before can anyone suggest what would be the best sort of place to stay. I want to go somewhere in England, maybe Cornwall or some seaside place. I am looking for a hotel where I will feel safe and will be central to shops beach etc.

Next week will not be a good time for a beach holiday, and the resorts in Cornwall will be dead! Have you considered Brighton?0

I'm assuming you are female? We live up north so don't know Cornwall etc very well. However we do go to the south coast with our daughter & family & we stay in the Witterings just outside Chichester. Lovely part of the world, feel very safe, nice beaches & close to Chichester (lovely town) with a good rail link on south coast ie. Brighton, Portsmouth etc.
Don't know where you live but I would also suggest Northumberland - especially Alnmouth or Warkworth. Very safe, beautiful beaches, lovely castles etc to visit & Alnwick (market town) nearby. Great restaurants (pub meals through to top notch dining) & a good rail link from Alnmouth to Newcastle (10 mins) and Edinburgh (75 mins).0 -
Thanks. Yes I'm female and from up north too. I was looking for some places to stay so I'll take a look at the one near Chicester. Been to the north east many times. Any suggestions for hotels?0

No hotel recommendations as we stay in rental properties. Mainly B & B's in West Wittering, West Itchenor etc or hotels/B & B's in Chichester - Tripadvisor will give you some ideas.0

What about a coach trip? You may get a last minute deal, & you'd have people around you.0

Why are you posting in the Overseas Forum then...?
Surely the UK Holidays Forum is the better place?0 -

Next week is half term in the South so accommodation prices will probably rise.0 -
I took someone on a shearings holiday a few years ago and they were pretty cheap, took us in some trips too and included some entertainment, dinner and breakfast. With it being on a coach it would be with others so might be helpful too:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

Thanks for your replies. I decided to stay in acity centre hotel near to where my DS is at uni for my first "holiday" alone. It felt a bit wierd and I didn't sleep much but I did it! I will certainly consider some of the other suggestions next time. Sorry for posting on wrong forum.0
