Ipad 2 and IOS 8?

Hi, I am really hoping some of you very clever people can help me with a question I have, my husband has had his Ipad 2 for ages and up until the IOS 8 update he loved it, now not so much. My question is about an Ipad 2 I was lucky enough to win that we have put back for my daughters Christmas present, will it automatically update to IOS 8 when it is turned on for the first time or will it be an update that can be ignored until the bugs are fixed? Thankyou in advance for any help x

The iPad won't install the latest OS unless you specifically click on install. Apple released iOS 8.02 (if I'm not mistaken) and that should have squashed many bugs. Having said that, Apple will release 8.1 tonight (at 6 pm) and I guess this will make it more stable. I have been using iOS 8 in my iPhone for many weeks and I find the OS very stable.0
