Bi folds

Are these easy to fit ourselves?
Are there any tips or structural aspects i need to be aware of when fitting? Am looking to put them in a ground floor extension thats circa 7m wide so thinking about 5m of bifolds with approx 1m either side of brickwork. Is there a maximum width i can go up for them to?
Assume they come in single sheets then you fix to each other? When I've decided on size is there much tolerance when fitting?
Seen some info on thresholds that I'm aware i need to look into.
Any help would be appreciated.

Your builder will talk you through it . bi folds are a great way of opening up extensions . 5m is big but fine and a 1mtr brick is well big enough; They are made to size or find the size and make the opener to suit leaving about quarter inch each side . Threshold differ depending on the floor inside and out . not cheap but probs cheaper than a wall of brick:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

Thanks....looks like stock doors might be cheaper so will probably work to a certain size. Haven't spoke to builder but most things i like to know myself anyway as ill be managing project. I'm assuming most people choose supply and fit route? One company I'm looking at offer maintenance and service for 10 years if they fit so that could be better/easier option depending on price. Will have a chat to a few suppliers today.

I fitted 2 sets of 3.5m bifolds recently. i was surprised how easy it actually was.
the most important part is the frame. Once this is level and straight it really was simple. The door leaves come separately and our attached to a bogie at the top and bottom and a bolt through each hinge between the leaves. (origin brand)
The glass then fitted like any normal window. with interior beading fitted after.0 -
We have 4 m bifolds in upvc ( don't buy upvc , they are cheaper but expand and contract like mad so have gaps in winter and stick in summer, utter garbage) they came assembled in the frame as one piece with just the glass to fit0

Thanks. I definitely wasn't intending PVC no offence. Well be getting aluminium in RAL7016 I think. I assumed they'd be fairly straightforward just big panes of glass always worry me but me and FIL should be fine. Will have a look at origin do you know the supplier. I sent you a PM a while back about pics of your extension i think as its similar to ours by the looks. Ta0

We have 4 meter bifolds with internal blinds. Very easy to open and close and installing wasnt that hard, getting the frame square and plum is the key.
We used http://www.duration.co.uk/
We didnt go for the low flat threshold as someone else we know has them and they can get draughty. You pay a price for that seamless floor look in this respect.
The internal blinds are expensive but very effective and so practical with the way the sun hits ours in the morning. The 10 year guarantee sold us on them.
Duration have a showroom you can play around with the options etc but they are also the manufacturer so keen prices too.0
