fine tip stylus

Greetings techies
I have an ipad. I am wanting to buy a fine tip stylus for drawing, sketching, note taking etc. And needless to say I don't want to pay a lot.
I have no experience whatsoever of using one of these. I see some of the fine tip ones seem to have a tiny disc at the business end, similar to the ELV which is a reasonable price but seems to suffer from the disc coming off and being lost forever!
Some seem to have a thick rubbery tip and I don't see how it can draw a fine line or that you can see exactly where it is touching the screen.
However, some of you out there must know about these things and I would be grateful for any advice.
I would welcome any advice from more knowledgeable people.

eBay has them for around £20, not cheap but very good for sketching.0
