I would really like to have a go at stained glass, creating little suncatchers. The prices for kits have all been around £150, I think because of the soldering iron and other essentials, however was wondering if anyone could recommend a cheaper kit just so I can try my hand at it.

Sorry I don't know the correct name for it.

  • Try looking on e-bay for sun catcher kits.
  • Sun catchers are best made using copper foiling. Have a look at the kits at http://www.creativeglassguild.co.uk and see if you can buy similar items in the kit elsewhere. The cheap starter kit has a 80w soldering iron - you can probably get similar for about £20. You will also need glass, glass cutter, copper foil, solder and flux as a minimum.

Alternatively have you considered glass paints? Much cheaper and easier for indoor sun catchers.
