Is this a scam?!

I was looking for an item for my husband and found a group of items at a reasonable price located approx. 50 miles away. The member had joined this month and the advert was placed 8 hours ago. I replied to the ad asking if it was still available (no reply but this was in the last half an hour)

My husband then said he recognised the photos and description from somewhere and then said he's seen it on Ebay. The photos and description are exactly the same and the items on ebay sold for twice as much as advertised on preloved (ended yesterday on a 7 day listing) Now the one that sold was collection from a totally different location, hours away from us.

What neither of us can understand is if this is some sort of scam how it works?
Why post something on ebay that sold yesterday on preloved in a different location for half the price? The ebay item was cash on collection and obviously the preloved one would be too…

Will obviously be staying well clear as it isn't for small amounts of money but we just can't work out an expiation!!

they probably picked it up free on preloved then put it up for sale on ebay even using the preloved photos

It was posted on preloved the day after the eBay auction ended and definitely not the sort of thing people would give away as it sold for hundreds of pounds!
