Returning faulty goods - selling not replying to e-mails

Am after some advice please, bought an aquarium pump over the internet about a year and a quarter ago which has now developed a fault, manufacturers guarantee is for 3 years, still have original purchase receipts.
E-mailed the manufacturer over a week ago detailing the fault and asking about their returns policy, no answer. Contacted the original retailer at the same time regards returning the item, no reply. I am now of the opinion to return the faulty goods to the original retailer asking for a replacement but even though the unit is defective am worried that it just ends up sitting in their shop with them continuing to refuse to enter into any correspondence.
Any suggestions?

As you have had it over 6 months, it is up to you to prove it is faulty if the retailer requests it.
Have you tried phoning the retailer to confirm if they got your email?
It is up to the retailer whether they replace, repair or refund.
I would try and get a reply from them before sending anything back.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
