Sent two items to a buyer on 9th October and today he has messaged to say not received
I have gone into PayPal and done a full refund. Will this count as a defect ?

Probably will count as an out of stock refund, unless you can gt the buyer to agree to cancellation, for reason other than "out of stock" - there is no not received cancellation option. Which is why there is no harm in getting buyers who claim INR to open a case.0 -
Think it will. I refunded 3 individual payments made by one buyer, they bought and paid for 3 items overnight at about 5 minutes apart rather than add to basket and get combined postage or the discount I have automatically set up. All items would easily fit into one parcel at the price of one so I was nice and refunded via paypal and sent a combined invoice. I now have 3 defects. So refunding via paypal will give a defect as I didn't cancel the transactions.0

Just checked my defect report to see how this is likely to affect me and it says "congratulations, as of 19/10/14, none of your transactions over the most recent evaluation period have defects"
I am confused, I am assessed every 12 months and know I have a few defects. Is this another glitch ?You're only young once, but you can be immature forever

Just checked my other account and I have a 3* for item as described, with positive feedback and the comment "ebayer you can trust".

That is very unfair! I was in a similar situation a fortnight ago. The buyer paid in 3 separate amounts in the same evening. I was going to refund, and do a combined invoice saving him money. Glad I didn't. In all my listings I put in bold that for multiple purchases please ask for combined invoice before paying. He ignored that so I decided not to refund (that would still have cost me 20pX3). I still put everything in one parcel - didn't want Royal Mail to benefit from these transactions!0
