Other bidder "no longer needs to sell" all of a sudden. Is this suspicious?

I dont think the estate agent is carrying on here - an extra £2k or £3k on a sale doesnt make much difference to their fee they will be paid. Most estate agents would rather take the first offer, get paid their fee and ger rid of the house so they can then sell the next house rather than spending time going back and forth between buyers/sellers.
This was my original feeling too, but we have already caught them out on at least two lies - small things that aren't that important in isolation, but lies nonetheless, so I am suspicious of them in general. It's also probably worth pointing out that this is a rural part of Northern Ireland and there could be an element of them not wanting 'our kind' to move to the area. We are completely non sectarian and have no interest in that, in fact our family is mixed, but unfortunately there are still some people out there who hold the old grudges, which is sad but it may be the reality in this case. I hope not, but I can't be sure and these things, though illegal, do happen and there's really no way to prove it if that is the case. I guess my worry is that this is at the heart of it because the whole situation seems fishy to me and it is definitely an area that would be predominately of a certain faith/political outlook, while we seem to be obviously of the 'other kind' even though we are not interested in that at all...could be paranoia but I guess I'll see what happens.0 -
